How do I dial mobiles vs landlines in Vietnam

Vietnam’s country calling code is +84. In Vietnam, phone numbers are commonly written domestically with a leading 0 (the trunk prefix). When calling from outside Vietnam, you typically dial your international exit code (or +), then 84, then the Vietnamese number without the leading 0—for example, a Hanoi landline written locally as 024 … becomes +84 24 …, and a mobile written locally as 09… / 03… / 05… / 07… / 08… becomes +84 9… / +84 3… / +84 5… / +84 7… / +84 8…. 

The main difference between landlines vs mobiles is the prefix family. Landlines use geographic area codes (Hanoi 24, Ho Chi Minh City 28, Da Nang 236, etc.), followed by a subscriber number (length varies by area). Mobiles use non-geographic operator prefixes (like 032–039, 070, 081–085, etc.) and are typically 10 digits in domestic form including the leading 0. For the most reliable results (especially for WhatsApp/SMS verification and while roaming), store Vietnamese contacts in E.164 format as +84 plus the number without the domestic leading 0.
