How to Call Philippines

From Any Country:

+63 [Local Phone Number]

Example:

+63 2 123 4567

(Example: Calling Manila, Philippines from anywhere in the world)

How do I dial mobiles vs landlines in the Philippines

The Philippines’ country calling code is +63. The single biggest dialing rule is the same one you’ll use over and over: when calling the Philippines from abroad, you drop the domestic trunk “0”. Inside the Philippines, many numbers are written with a leading 0 (for example 02… in Metro Manila or 09… for mobiles). Internationally, you replace that 0 with +63. The official numbering references also describe 00 as the international prefix for calls from the Philippines and 0 as the domestic trunk prefix for long-distance calls within the country.

Calling a Philippine mobile number

Philippine mobile numbers are typically written domestically as 09XX XXX XXXX (10 digits total, including the leading 0). From outside the Philippines, you dial +63 and then the mobile number without the leading 0, which becomes +63 9XX XXX XXXX. Example pattern:

  • Domestic: 0917 XXX XXXX
  • International: +63 917 XXX XXXX

A useful “gotcha” for users: mobile prefixes (the 9XX part) historically indicated the original operator, but for many practical tasks you should treat them as a hint, not a guarantee—carrier changes, MVNOs/VoIP ranges, and evolving allocations mean it’s safer to focus on formatting and dialability than on guessing the network from the prefix.

Calling a Philippine landline (fixed line)

Philippine landlines use area codes (often 1–3 digits after the trunk 0) plus a subscriber number. Domestically, you’ll commonly see them written as 0 + area code + local number. Internationally, you dial +63 + area code (without the 0) + local number.

Metro Manila is special: the 02 area (written domestically as (02)) uses 8-digit local numbers after the area code (a change implemented in 2019), so the international pattern is +63 2 XXXX XXXX. Example pattern:

  • Domestic (Manila): (02) 8XXX XXXX
  • International: +63 2 8XXX XXXX

For provinces outside the 02 region, subscriber length is commonly 7 digits after the area code, and you’ll often see domestic formats like 0XX XXX YYYY. If you are calling within the same area code from a landline, you can often dial just the local subscriber number; if you’re calling from a mobile or from another area, use the full national format with the trunk 0.

Best practice for websites, contact books, and click-to-call

For SEO pages and user success, publish Philippine numbers in E.164 format whenever possible:

  • Landline (Manila): +63 2 XXXX XXXX
  • Landline (other areas): +63 XXX XXXX
  • Mobile: +63 9XX XXX XXXX

This avoids the most common mistake (keeping the domestic 0 when calling internationally) and works reliably with tel: links, WhatsApp, and CRM exports.

What are the emergency numbers in the Philippines

Dial 911 for emergencies nationwide (police, fire, ambulance). The Philippine Red Cross hotline is commonly published as 143.

What are the city and area codes in the Philippines

Dialing tip: if a landline is written locally as (0AA) xxx xxxx (or (02) 8xxx xxxx), remove the 0 and dial +63 AA… (or +63 2…) from abroad.

Dialing tip: If someone gives you 0917 123 4567, store it as +63 917 123 4567. That one change (dropping the domestic 0) is the #1 thing international visitors get wrong.
