How do I dial mobiles vs landlines in Thailand
Thailand uses +66 and a domestic trunk prefix 0, and it follows a closed dialing plan—so within Thailand you normally dial the full national number including the area code, even if you’re calling “locally.” For landlines, Thailand’s geographic area codes are one digit (2) for Bangkok and nearby provinces, and two digits (3x/4x/5x/7x) for the rest of the country, with subscriber numbers typically 7 digits in the Bangkok 02 zone and 6 digits in many other regions. A common domestic example is 02-2134567 (Bangkok) or 044-213456 (Nakhon Ratchasima/Korat).
For mobiles, Thai mobile numbers are 10 digits in national format: a mobile code (commonly starting with 06/08/09) plus a 7-digit subscriber number (for example, numbers can look like 0641163685). When calling Thailand from abroad, the rule is consistent for both mobiles and landlines: omit the initial 0 and dial +66 plus the remaining digits (e.g., 02-2134567 → +66 2 2134567; 081xxxxxxx → +66 81xxxxxxx).
